Attendance Information

Please Note: Check this page again a few weeks before your scheduled course. Additional information may be posted later.

If you are successful in registering for a confirmed or standby seat in a course, you will be asked to mail in your printed registration notification (along with the course deposit fee). Once we receive these items, we will finalize your registration. You will receive immediate e-mail notification providing details about your course assignment.

About 7 days before the scheduled start of your assigned course we will send you a reminder e-mail with directions to the site, dates and starting time of the course.

To claim your seat in class you must attend the first class session ON TIME. Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to avoid forfeiting your place in class and your registration fee. Stand-by students will be assigned to unclaimed reserved seats promptly at the posted class starting time.

You must bring the following items to all class sessions:

Bring the following items:

  • Valid drivers license or instruction permit
  • Sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear (not cloth or canvas)
  • Long pants (heavy material with straight legs)
  • Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
  • Full-fingered gloves
  • Eye protection (glasses, goggles or face shield).

A Department of Transportation (DOT) approved helmet will be provided if you do not have your own.

Experienced course participants must also:

  • Provide their own DOT approved helmet
  • Show proof of current registration and insurance for the motorcycle being used during the course
  • Complete a motorcycle safety inspection checklist prior to class, with the checklist provided, for the motorcycle being used during the course

Look at our  Select a Course page  for course locations and maps to the various sites.

You may find the following items helpful for class:

Useful items to bring:

  • Highlighter markers in multiple colors
  • A supply of drinking water (many sites do not have running water nearby)
  • Something to snack on
  • Sunglasses for daytime classes

A note about scheduled course dates and times: Most courses are conducted as scheduled. Due to extreme weather conditions or variables beyond our control, some course times may need to be extended. Capital improvement projects, military emergencies, or unforeseen scheduling conflicts at our host sites may require us to reschedule or cancel an entire course. In these extreme cases, we will make every reasonable attempt to find alternative course meeting times, dates and/or locations for affected students but cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate everyone.
